Is It Necessary to Depress the Clutch When Braking in a Car?

Depressing the clutch when braking in a car is not mandatory. If the speed after braking can still match the current gear, there's no need to depress the clutch. However, in cases of emergency braking where the speed drops significantly, it's necessary to depress the clutch to downshift. When the vehicle speed decreases or during short-distance braking, if you stop applying the throttle and the speed drops to a certain point, only pressing the brake without depressing the clutch will cause the engine to stall. Therefore, during short-distance braking, simultaneously depressing both the clutch and brake pedals is the safest approach. Ideally, for short-distance braking, you should first press the brake to reduce speed and then depress the clutch before the engine stalls. This method is the most correct and beneficial for the car, but it's quite challenging to execute.
