Is It Necessary to Buy a Car Cover for a New Car?

If the owner parks the vehicle on the roadside for a long time or in open parking areas with high uncertainty, such as residential areas, purchasing and using a car cover is highly recommended. Otherwise, there is no need to buy one. Car maintenance tips: 1. Engine cleaning: The car engine should be cleaned at appropriate intervals. Prolonged use can lead to the formation of a thick layer of carbon deposits on the engine surface, which can significantly corrode the rubber components inside the engine. 2. Regular checks: During summer, temperatures are generally higher, causing gasoline and water to evaporate more easily than usual. Therefore, it is essential to frequently check the radiator and fuel tank, topping them up promptly when levels are low.
I think whether to use a car cover depends on the parking environment. Based on my years of driving experience, if the car is often parked under trees or in dusty areas, a car cover can indeed protect against bird droppings, leaves, and dust, which is quite good for the paint. However, using a car cover can be troublesome, especially on windy days—once it's on, the wind can cause it to rub against the paint, leading to small scratches. Those cheap canvas car covers are particularly prone to accumulating rainwater, which can cause water stains over time. Once, I covered my car for a two-week business trip, and when I returned, I found mold spots around the door gaps. Now that my car is parked in the underground garage of our residential area, I basically don’t use a car cover anymore. Regular car washes are sufficient for daily use. I suggest car owners choose based on their actual parking conditions. If parked outdoors for long periods, a car cover might be worth considering, but remember to buy one with a soft inner lining to prevent scratches.
