Is It Illegal to Modify the Exhaust Pipe Position?

Modifying the exhaust pipe position is illegal. Article 16 of the "Regulations on the Registration of Motor Vehicles" by the Ministry of Public Security stipulates: The following modifications are allowed for small and micro passenger vehicles: installation of front and rear anti-collision devices; for freight vehicles: installation of windshields, water tanks, toolboxes, spare tire racks, etc.; and interior decoration of motor vehicles. Illegal modifications include: Changing the brand, model, or engine type of a motor vehicle, or altering the registered appearance and technical data of a motor vehicle are considered illegal modifications. Modifications such as changing the body color, model, performance, purpose, or structure of a licensed motor vehicle, replacing the frame, body, or engine, all require the owner to apply for a change of registration with the vehicle management office. Installing spoilers, body kits, or modifying exhaust pipes are, in principle, not permitted.
