Is it difficult to install ETC by yourself?

Installing ETC by yourself is not difficult. The installation method is as follows: 1. Check whether the ETC card and OBU are damaged. Press the anti-removal button of the OBU, the red light will briefly light up, and the OLED screen will display "Please insert the card", indicating that the device is normal; 2. Clean the front windshield to keep the glass smooth, clean, and dry. Peel off the protective film on the back of the OBU and stick it to the installation position, then press it with your hand for 2 to 3 minutes; 3. Insert the ETC card with the front facing the driver and the back facing the front glass, and insert the chip into the device. The precautions for installing ETC are: 1. Do not block the line of sight; 2. Do not affect the charging of the device; 3. Do not disassemble it randomly after installation.
Installing an ETC device yourself is really not difficult. I just finished setting mine up last week. There are mainly three key points: position it behind the rearview mirror on the black dotted area, clean the glass thoroughly with an alcohol wipe, and press the adhesive strip firmly for 30 seconds after peeling it off. Just install the corresponding app on your phone and activate it by turning on Bluetooth. The only thing to watch out for is not to misalign it—my neighbor placed his too low and it blocked the dashcam. The whole process takes about 20 minutes, saving half a day compared to queuing at the bank. Passing through toll stations later is super convenient with automatic barrier lifting. The only hassle is if it rains and the adhesive doesn’t hold well, so it’s best to do it on a sunny day.
