Reversing is not permitted on highway ramps. Highways prohibit reversing, driving against traffic, and making U-turns across the central divider. Reversing on a highway ramp will result in a 12-point deduction on the driver's license and a fine. Actions like reversing or driving in the wrong direction on highways severely compromise traffic safety. Regardless of the reason, reversing on a highway is an extremely dangerous driving behavior and a serious violation of traffic laws. Even a slight lapse in attention can lead to severe traffic accidents. According to the relevant provisions of the Road Traffic Safety Law, reversing or driving in the wrong direction on a highway will not only incur a fine but also result in a full 12-point deduction at once. Since ramps generally have speed limits of 20-40 km/h, to ensure safe speed adjustment, highways have a designated auxiliary lane near the ramp exit. Vehicles intending to exit the highway should first move to the rightmost lane, then transition to the auxiliary lane to decelerate before entering the ramp. Before entering a highway, drivers should familiarize themselves with the route using maps or navigation. Once on the highway, they must pay attention to roadside signs and avoid making sudden lane changes near ramp exits.
