High-flow air filters are useful. Installing a high-flow air filter can reduce the resistance of engine intake air, while increasing the intake air volume per unit time and volumetric efficiency during engine operation, thereby achieving the goal of increasing horsepower output. The air filter on a vehicle's engine is used to filter the air required for engine operation, and this device is essential for gasoline-powered vehicles. High-quality high-flow air filters employ a three-layer special structure to filter incoming air: the first layer is an oil layer, which blocks dirt and dust; the second layer is an epoxy-based surface-treated filter screen, which can suppress engine backfire; the final layer is a fiber cloth structure, responsible for blocking finer dust particles. Through these three layers of protection, the air drawn into the engine is cleaner and the flow rate is increased, slightly enhancing engine horsepower.
Since I installed the high-flow air filter in my car, the intake has become much smoother. There's an obvious sense of acceleration when I step on the gas pedal, with significantly improved throttle response. The engine breathes more freely, and the power output is more stable. However, I've also noticed that regular cleaning is crucial. If not maintained promptly, dust accumulation may cause the mass airflow sensor to malfunction, trigger the check engine light, or even damage components. Compared to the OEM filter, this modification is suitable for those who frequently drive on highways or seek performance enhancement. It offers great value for money, delivering noticeable effects with an investment of less than a hundred yuan. In the long run, while it slightly enhances driving pleasure, don't expect it to save fuel—fuel consumption remains roughly the same or even increases slightly due to the larger air intake putting a bit more load on the engine. It's recommended to pair it with proper maintenance to ensure overall system coordination.
