Is Geely's Engine Made by Volvo?

Geely's engine is sourced from Volvo. The Geely Xingrui is equipped with Volvo's Drive-E series 2.0TD direct-injection turbocharged engine, which delivers a maximum horsepower of 190 HP, a maximum power of 140 KW at 4700 rpm, and a peak torque of 300 N.m. Geely's engines are produced independently by Geely. The powertrain options include two engine displacements: a 1.0T and a 1.4T turbocharged engine. The 1.0T engine is a three-cylinder unit with the model number JLF-3G10TD, while the 1.4T is a four-cylinder engine with the model number JLB-4G14T. For daily maintenance of Geely engines, the following methods can be used: Use lubricating oil of appropriate quality grade. For gasoline engines, select SD-SF grade gasoline engine oil based on the additional equipment of the intake and exhaust systems and usage conditions. For diesel engines, choose CB-CD grade diesel engine oil according to mechanical load, with the selection standard not lower than the manufacturer's requirements. Regularly change the engine oil and filter. The quality of any grade of lubricating oil will deteriorate over time. After a certain mileage, performance degradation can cause various engine issues. To avoid malfunctions, change the oil regularly according to usage conditions and maintain an appropriate oil level. When oil passes through the fine pores of the filter, solid particles and viscous substances accumulate in the filter. If the filter becomes clogged and oil cannot pass through, the filter may burst or the safety valve may open, allowing oil to bypass through the relief valve and carry contaminants back to the lubrication points, accelerating engine wear and increasing internal pollution. Periodically clean the crankcase. During engine operation, high-pressure unburned gases, acids, moisture, sulfur, and nitrogen oxides from the combustion chamber enter the crankcase through the gap between the piston rings and cylinder walls. These mix with metal particles from component wear to form sludge. Small amounts remain suspended in the oil, while larger amounts precipitate, clogging filters and oil passages, making engine lubrication difficult and causing wear. Regularly use a radiator cleaner to flush the radiator. Removing rust and scale deposits not only ensures proper engine operation but also extends the overall lifespan of the radiator and engine.
Geely Automobile acquired Volvo Cars in 2010, and since then the two companies have begun sharing technologies, including engines. However, Geely itself has its own engine series. For example, some of their entry-level models like the Emgrand use Geely's self-developed 1.5T or 1.4T engines. In higher-end models, such as the Lynk & Co brand or the Xingyue SUV, Geely utilizes engines based on Volvo's Drive-E technology, like the 2.0T turbocharged engine, which has significantly improved both performance and fuel efficiency. This doesn't mean all Geely vehicles use Volvo engines; the brands remain independent, and Geely has its own R&D center in Ningbo. The technology sharing has enhanced the overall quality and reliability of Geely vehicles, allowing consumers to choose different configurations based on their budgets when purchasing a car. After the acquisition, Geely also introduced the CMA shared platform for compact cars, further integrating Volvo's engineering advantages.
