Geely is a domestic car brand, not a joint venture. Geely Auto Group is a subsidiary of Zhejiang Geely Holding Group, with its headquarters located in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, China. Additional information about Geely Auto is as follows: Founded: Geely Auto was established in 1986, primarily manufacturing off-road vehicles, sedans, and other models. Vehicle Lineup: Geely Auto offers a range of models covering various market segments, including sedans, SUVs, and MPVs, such as the Xingyue L, Emgrand series, ICON, Boyue series, Jiaji, Borui, and Vision series. Production Locations: Geely Auto has multiple production bases, with its headquarters in Hangzhou, Zhejiang. It operates four manufacturing bases in Linhai, Ningbo, Taizhou, and Shanghai, dedicated to vehicle and auto parts production. The Geely Group has a total of ten production bases. The earliest four production bases are located in Taizhou Linhai, Taizhou Luqiao, Ningbo Beilun, and Shanghai Maple. The other six production bases are situated in Jinan, Xiangtan, Lanzhou, Chengdu, Cixi, and Guilin. Among these, Jinan has already started production of the Emgrand model, and Lanzhou is constructing its second-phase project. Geographically, these six new production bases cover various regions across China: Lanzhou serves Xinjiang, Gansu, Ningxia, and Qinghai; Chengdu covers the Chengdu-Chongqing area; Guilin serves Guangxi, Guangdong, Yunnan, and Guizhou; Xiangtan serves the central region; and Jinan covers Shanxi, Hebei, Shandong, Henan, and areas beyond Shanhaiguan.
As a veteran driver with over 20 years of experience, I'm quite familiar with the Geely brand. It's a homegrown Chinese brand that started from Zhejiang and gradually developed. I remember back in the 1990s when it was just starting out, Geely cars had average quality, but through persistent independent R&D, their current models feature innovative designs and stable performance, all produced and assembled domestically. Although they later acquired the foreign brand Volvo and engaged in some technical collaborations, Geely itself has maintained pure Chinese heritage throughout, not being a joint venture. Chinese domestic cars have made rapid progress in recent years, with Geely being one of the frontrunners, consistently ranking high in domestic sales. As a driver, I feel a sense of pride seeing the rise of domestic brands.
