Is Gear Shifting Tested in Subject 3 Driving Exam?

Gear shifting is indeed tested in the Subject 3 driving exam. During the gear shifting segment, when the voice prompt instructs to perform gear shifting, the candidate should adjust the gear to 2nd gear, sequentially shift up to 5th gear (where the speed must exceed 40km/h), and then sequentially shift down to 2nd gear. Gear Up-shifting Operation: After starting with 1st gear, appropriately press the accelerator to increase speed before upshifting. Accelerate to 15-20 km/h before shifting to 2nd gear. During shifting, release the accelerator pedal, depress the clutch pedal, move the gear lever to neutral, then release the clutch pedal. Depress the clutch pedal again, push the gear lever into 2nd gear, and gradually release the clutch while slowly pressing the accelerator to maintain smooth acceleration. The same procedure applies for other upshifts. Gear Down-shifting Operation: When downshifting, release the accelerator pedal and depress the clutch pedal. Push the gear lever to neutral, release the clutch pedal, then lightly press the accelerator to increase engine RPM. Depress the clutch pedal again and push the gear lever into a lower gear. Gradually release the clutch until fully disengaged. Downshifting can skip one gear level but not two. Downshifting can also be used for engine braking during long descents.
