Is ETC Solar-Powered?
1 Answers
ETC is solar-powered. The electronic tag is equipped with a solar panel. When installed on the front windshield of a vehicle, the solar panel faces outward and can charge the built-in battery of the electronic tag. The solar-powered ETC device contains two batteries: one is a long-lasting non-rechargeable battery for system memory, with a lifespan of eight to ten years, and the other is a supercapacitor for system operation. Notes on ETC devices: Once the ETC is installed, if it is removed again, the microswitch at the adhesive area will be triggered. If the system is triggered twice, it will be locked and must be reactivated at the issuing office before it can be used again.
