China's Road Traffic Law clearly stipulates that the maximum speed limit on highways is 120 kilometers per hour. Driving at speeds exceeding 120 km/h on highways constitutes a violation of the Road Traffic Law, and once recorded, corresponding penalties will be imposed. Here is additional information: Exceeding the speed limit by 20% to 50%: For motor vehicles exceeding the speed limit by more than 20% but less than 50% on highways, a fine will be imposed along with 3 demerit points. Driving medium-sized or larger vehicles: Driving medium-sized or larger passenger or cargo vehicles, or hazardous material transport vehicles on roads other than highways or urban expressways, or driving other motor vehicles at speeds exceeding the limit by less than 20%, will result in 3 demerit points.
