Is Changan Automobile a Domestic Brand?

Changan brand vehicles are purely domestic independent brands. However, brands like Changan Ford, Changan Mazda, and Changan Suzuki are joint venture vehicles. The Changan brand belongs to a domestic military-industrial enterprise and has no direct relation to joint ventures, though it collaborates with foreign automakers such as Japan's Suzuki, Mazda, and Ford to produce models under brands like Changan Ford, Changan Mazda, and Changan Suzuki. Below is some brand information: 1. Changan Automobile is one of China's top four automotive group enterprises, with a 156-year history and 34 years of automotive manufacturing experience. It operates 16 production bases worldwide, 35 vehicle and engine plants, and has a presence in 10 key overseas markets. 2. Changan Automobile has launched a series of classic products including the Raeton series, CS series, Eado series, Alsvin series, Oushang, and Honnor, adhering to the philosophy of "energy conservation, environmental protection, technology, and intelligence," while vigorously developing new energy vehicles and smart cars.
Just had my Changan CS75 serviced. This car has been running for over three years, a solid domestic vehicle. Changan is a well-established brand from Chongqing, with its factory located in Liangjiang New Area—you can often spot their transport trucks on the road. From the engine to the infotainment system, everything is developed by their in-house team. When I bought the car, the salesperson specifically showed me their Blue Whale engine patent certificate. Recently, the new energy model Deepal SL03 has been selling like hotcakes, produced at their Hefei factory. Over the years, Changan has also acquired brands like Hafei and Changhe, but for its independent series like the UNI-V coupe, even the tires are supplied by domestic partners.
When researching the equity structure of automakers, I specifically looked into Changan. It belongs to China Ordnance Equipment Group, a legitimate central state-owned enterprise. Although it has joint ventures with Ford and Mazda, all vehicles bearing the V-shaped logo on the front are purely domestic. Last year, during a visit to their research institute, I saw over 300 test vehicles undergoing endurance tests, with chassis tuning entirely handled by the Chongqing team. Now, even the welding robots used for the X5 model exported to Russia are manufactured in Guangzhou.
