Is Car Antifreeze the Same as Windshield Washer Fluid?
1 Answers
Car antifreeze and windshield washer fluid are not the same, and the differences between them are as follows: Different compositions: The main components of antifreeze are 50% purified water, 40% methanol, and 10% other substances; windshield washer fluid primarily consists of water, alcohol, ethylene glycol, and corrosion inhibitors. Different functions: Antifreeze is a coolant with special additives, mainly used in liquid-cooled engine cooling systems. It has excellent properties such as preventing freezing in winter, boiling in summer, and resisting scale and corrosion year-round. Windshield washer fluid has cleaning properties, antifreeze properties, anti-fog properties, anti-static properties, lubrication properties, and corrosion resistance. Different uses: Windshield washer fluid is used to clean the windshield; antifreeze is used to prevent the coolant from freezing and cracking the radiator or damaging the engine cylinder block or head during cold winter parking.
