Is Baojun a Domestic or Joint Venture Brand?

Baojun is a domestic brand, a compact SUV launched by SAIC-GM-Wuling targeting young consumers. Taking the Baojun 560 as an example, its body dimensions are 4620mm in length, 1820mm in width, and 1750mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2750mm. In terms of powertrain, the Baojun 560 offers two engine options: a 1.5T and a 1.8L. The 1.5T turbocharged engine delivers a maximum power output of 110kW and peak torque of 230Nm. For suspension, the Baojun 560 Rhythmic Edition features an upgraded multi-link independent rear suspension.
I've driven a Baojun car for several years, and as an ordinary car owner, I consider it essentially a domestic brand with a hint of joint venture flavor. Why do I say that? Because Baojun is a brand launched by SAIC-GM-Wuling, where SAIC is a Chinese company, GM is American, and Wuling is very local. This combination makes it somewhat like a hybrid. However, from design, production, and market positioning perspectives, Baojun primarily targets the Chinese market with affordable prices and practical features, perfectly meeting the needs of ordinary people. When I bought it, I felt it offered great value for money. Now it's selling very well in China, with many families using it, making it more like our domestic pride. Of course, some technologies are shared with GM, but the brand itself is rooted in China, so there's no need to dwell on whether it's a joint venture or not—just enjoy driving it. After all, as a consumer, I care more about whether the car performs well.
