If the car idles at 1000 RPM when cold, and the idle speed decreases after the engine temperature rises to a certain level, it is considered normal. The idle speed of a car varies between cold and warm engine conditions. Generally, a well-functioning engine under warm conditions has an idle speed between 550 to 800 RPM. In cold conditions, the car needs to allow the engine to quickly reach its normal operating environment after starting. Therefore, during a cold start, the engine's computer automatically injects more fuel, burning more fuel than the normal idle speed to rapidly increase the engine's water temperature and bring the engine to an optimal temperature quickly. This is mainly manifested as a higher idle speed when the engine is cold, typically between 950 to 1300 RPM. Once the engine temperature rises to a certain value, the idle speed will decrease to the normal range.
