Is a temperature of 100 degrees Celsius normal for an old Jetta?

Old Jetta's water temperature at 100 degrees Celsius is abnormal. The normal water temperature should be between 80-90 degrees. Generally, engine-specific coolant can withstand a maximum temperature of around 110 degrees. 100 degrees won't cause boiling unless pure water is used. Try switching to a higher concentration coolant, check if the pipes are unobstructed, and inspect the thermostat and gauge sensor. Additional information: 1. The normal operating temperature for most small cars is 80°C-105°C (when antifreeze is added), but the normal water temperature usually stays around ninety degrees. Most ordinary cars cannot exceed 100 degrees for extended periods, with 105 degrees being the limit. 2. In summer, the engine can reach 90℃ within 2-3 minutes after starting. In winter, it usually takes 10-15 minutes or more to reach 90℃. 3. If the water temperature is too high and the engine overheats, it can easily boil over. If the water temperature is too low, the engine cannot operate normally.
