Is a Fire Extinguisher Necessary in a Car?

Regulations stipulate that passenger vehicles with more than seven seats and large trucks must carry fire extinguishers, while there are no explicit requirements for small vehicles. The details are as follows: 1. Vehicles should be equipped with a compliant triangular warning sign. Medium-sized (and above) passenger vehicles and hazardous goods transport vehicles must be equipped with fire extinguishers and firefighting equipment that are within their validity period. The extinguishers should be securely installed and easily accessible. Violators will be given a warning or fined between 20-200 yuan. 2. There is no such mandatory requirement for private cars. However, during the annual vehicle inspection, a fire extinguisher must be placed inside the car; otherwise, the inspection will not pass. For safety reasons, it is advisable to carry one. For ordinary cars, the recommended types are a 1kg dry powder fire extinguisher or a 1L water-based fire extinguisher, as they are relatively easy to carry and secure in the vehicle.
