Is a BMW X4 Water Temperature of 120°C Normal?

120°C is slightly high. Small cars generally operate between 80~90°C, and 120°C should reach the red line position. Different engines have varying normal water temperature ranges, with 80°C to 95°C being typical. Normal Water Temperature: Water temperature refers to the coolant temperature. After warming up, the normal range is typically displayed as 70-90°C. When the coolant level in the radiator is low, the temperature will rise, requiring additional coolant. If the temperature gauge approaches the 'H' or red danger zone, or if the temperature warning light illuminates, it indicates excessively high engine coolant temperature. Working Principle: The water temperature gauge sensor is a thermistor-type sensor, threaded into the engine coolant passage. The thermistor determines the current flow through the gauge's coil winding, thereby driving the needle movement on the dial.
