Is 32GB Memory Enough for a Dash Cam?

32GB memory is sufficient for a dash cam. Currently, most dash cams default to a loop recording mode. The logic of this recording mode is as follows: the footage captured by the dash cam is stored in the memory card in segments of a certain duration (segment durations vary, such as 1 minute, 3 minutes, 5 minutes, or 10 minutes). When the memory card's storage space is full, newly recorded videos will directly overwrite the oldest videos (those furthest from the current time). This prevents the issue of being unable to record new videos due to a full memory. It also saves car owners the trouble of regularly formatting the memory card.
I don't drive much on a daily basis, just about one or two hours commuting to and from work. With the dashcam set to loop recording, a 32GB memory card is completely sufficient, storing roughly three to four hours of footage. However, if you frequently go on long trips or prefer recording in high definition, like 1080p or above, then the capacity might become tight, as video files get large quickly. I'd recommend switching to a 64GB card for peace of mind. Don't forget to check the write speed of the memory card; Class 10 or above is necessary to ensure smooth recording without lag. Personally, I use a SanDisk brand, which has proven to be quite stable.
