Toyota Motor Corporation, abbreviated as "Toyota" (TOYOTA), was founded by Kiichiro Toyoda. It is an automobile manufacturing company headquartered in Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture, and Bunkyo, Tokyo, Japan, and is affiliated with the Mitsui industrial conglomerate. Toyota is one of the world's top ten automobile manufacturers and the largest car company in Japan. Established in 1933, Toyota Motor Corporation gradually replaced General Motors as the world's leading automobile manufacturer starting in 2008. Its brands mainly include Lexus, Toyota, and other series of high-end, mid-range, and entry-level models. Kiichiro Toyoda was born in Japan in 1895 and graduated from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Tokyo Imperial University. At the end of 1929, Kiichiro Toyoda personally inspected the automobile industries in Europe and the United States. In 1933, an automobile division was established within the "Toyoda Automatic Loom Works." Early Toyota models such as the Toyota, Crown, Corona, and Corolla gained widespread fame, while more recent models like the Cressida and Lexus luxury cars have also earned high acclaim. The three-ellipse logo of Toyota has been in use since the early 1990s. The large ellipse in the logo represents the Earth, while the middle two ellipses form a vertical "T" shape, symbolizing Toyota. It signifies Toyota's commitment to the future, as well as its confidence and ambition.
