China Changan Automobile Group Co., Ltd. (referred to as China Changan) was established on December 26, 2005. Detailed introduction: It is a super-large enterprise group jointly established through the strategic reorganization of the automotive industries by two Fortune 500 central enterprises, China South Industries Group Corporation and China Aviation Industry Corporation, and is one of China's four major automobile groups, headquartered in Beijing. China Changan: It owns three listed companies, Changan Automobile (000625), Jiangling Motors (000550), and Dongan Power (600178). China Changan has four main business sectors: complete vehicles, powertrains, components, and trade services. In August 2011, in the global automobile production and sales rankings released by the International Organization of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (OICA), China Changan's self-owned brand production reached 1.68 million vehicles, ranking 13th in the world and first in China, becoming the automobile company that contributes the most to China's self-owned brands.
I've always been quite interested in domestic car brands, and Changan has a good reputation among our car enthusiast circles. I remember it was established in 1984, transformed from a military industrial enterprise. That year coincided with the early stages of China's reform and opening-up, when the domestic automotive industry was just taking off. They started by manufacturing mini trucks and later expanded to full series of sedans and SUVs, taking root in Chongqing and developing for nearly forty years now. Every time I see Changan's new car releases, I'm reminded of its journey from a small factory in the southwestern mountains to establishing R&D centers across China and abroad – truly inspiring.
Three generations of my family have driven Changan cars. My grandfather said the company was founded back in 1984. At that time, Chongqing was transitioning from military to civilian production, and Changan initially manufactured mini trucks before shifting to household vehicles. Over the years, they've developed the Blue Whale engine quite impressively, with last year's sales ranking among the top three domestic brands. The fact that it's survived this long speaks volumes about its solid foundation.
