How to Wire a Dash Cam Reversing Camera?

Plan the overall wiring layout in the vehicle. Install the camera near the rear license plate, routing the wires along the door seams, which requires removing the trim panels. Drill holes near the license plate, then secure the camera here using the wiring. Connect the wires to the dash cam according to the instructions provided in the manual.
I've installed backup cameras several times and have some experience. The key to the whole process is safety first: always disconnect the negative terminal of the car battery before starting to avoid short circuits. Prepare tools like screwdrivers, pliers, and wire conduits. The dash cam interface has a power cable and a yellow video cable—connect the power to the ACC positive terminal or cigarette lighter, and plug the video cable into the RCA port of the camera. Wiring is crucial: I prefer running the wires from the headliner to the trunk, using wire conduits to tuck them away and prevent exposure or crushing; the camera is fixed next to the license plate light, drilling a small hole and tightening the screws. After wiring, reconnect the battery and test the image clarity in reverse gear; if there's signal interference, just add a ferrite ring. After installation, fine-tune the camera angle to align with the rear for a complete view when reversing, otherwise it might affect judgment. The whole process takes about one or two hours—it saves money, is fun, and you can also check the car's condition along the way.
