How to Visually Check Brake Pad Thickness?
1 Answers
Method for visually checking brake pad thickness: You can see the brake pads through the gaps in the wheel hub. If the brake pads have worn down to one-third of the standard thickness, replacement is recommended. However, due to wheel hub design on some vehicle models, it's difficult to check brake pad thickness without removing the tires. Some models will display a warning light at the handbrake indicator position when brake pads become too thin. There are also specialized tools available for better inspection of brake pad thickness. The standard thickness for brake pads is approximately 1.5cm, which gradually decreases due to friction during braking operations. The critical wear limit for brake pads is generally around 2-3mm - if thickness falls below 3mm, immediate replacement is required.
