The latest 1999 version of Europe's range test cycle standard includes 4 urban cycles and 1 suburban cycle. China's certification for electric vehicle range is based on the "Test Methods for Energy Consumption Rate and Range of Electric Vehicles". Tesla's energy consumption curve is actually quite intuitive, located in the Energy menu on the central touchscreen. I usually analyze it from three dimensions during my drives: the green curve represents real-time energy consumption, which spikes when going uphill and turns negative to recover energy when descending; the yellow bar chart shows segmented statistics, revealing the impact of air conditioning or highway driving on range; finally, the estimated range displayed in the top-left corner dynamically adjusts based on the last 30 kilometers, making it more reliable than the displayed range. Before every long trip, I check these curves to adjust my driving habits—setting the AC to recirculate and using Autopilot on highways whenever possible, which can extend my range by about 50 kilometers.
