The method for using turn signals is as follows: 1. When changing lanes while driving, you should first turn on the corresponding turn signal before changing lanes; 2. When making a U-turn, you should turn on the corresponding turn signal and check for any oncoming vehicles before proceeding; 3. When overtaking on a road section without a solid center line marking, you should turn on the left turn signal and sound the horn as a warning; 4. When pulling over to park, first turn on the right turn signal and check the traffic conditions behind and to the right of the vehicle before pulling over; 5. When leaving a parking spot, turn on the left turn signal and check the traffic conditions behind and to the left of the vehicle before merging into the traffic lane.

I think using turn signals is actually very simple, but beginners often fumble with it. The lever on the left side of the steering wheel is the switch—gently push it upward for the right turn signal and downward for the left turn signal. Activating the signal at least 3 seconds before changing lanes is the safety baseline, letting the car behind know your intention. The key is to develop muscle memory—use it for lane changes, turns, entering/exiting roundabouts, and even pulling over. I’ve seen too many people forget to turn it off, leading to the ticking sound continuing. The signal automatically turns off when the steering wheel returns to center after a turn, but you must manually reset it after a lane change. When rain fogs up the windshield and obscures the dashboard, listening for the ticking sound confirms whether it’s off.

Operating the turn signal is much simpler than taking a selfie! Without taking your left hand off the steering wheel, just flick the small lever on the left. Pressing it toward yourself activates the left turn signal, while pushing it away turns on the right signal. My bestie once forgot to signal when exiting a roundabout and got honked at by the car behind—she learned her lesson: always signal well before turning. When you turn the steering wheel all the way, the signal automatically cancels, but remember to reset it after changing lanes. Now, I always count to three after signaling before turning—it’s safer and keeps the instructor from yelling. At night, seeing the green arrow blinking on the dashboard gives me extra peace of mind.

From an operational logic perspective, the turn signal is an extension of steering wheel controls. When the left hand grips the 9 o'clock position of the steering wheel, the thumb naturally rests on the left stalk of the steering column. The key action involves identifying the stalk's resistance point: a light upward push past the first resistance triggers the right turn signal (continuous flashing), while pressing downward past the resistance segment activates the left turn signal. Manual reset is required after lane changes, whereas the signal automatically cancels when the steering wheel returns over 90 degrees after a large-angle turn. Successful activation is confirmed at night by observing amber strobe lights on the corresponding front and rear sides of the vehicle. A rapid flashing indicator accompanied by an audible warning tone on the dashboard signals a turn signal malfunction.

Can different grades of engine oil be mixed?

Different grades of engine oil should not be mixed, as mixing may alter the viscosity of the oil and adversely affect engine lubrication. Engine oils are specifically classified into 4 types for summer use, 6 types for winter use, and 16 types for all-season use. Summer oils are graded as 20, 30, 40, and 50, with higher numbers indicating greater viscosity and suitability for higher maximum temperatures. Winter oils are graded as 0W, 5W, 10W, 15W, 20W, and 25W, where 'W' stands for Winter. The smaller the number before 'W', the lower the low-temperature viscosity, the better the low-temperature fluidity, and the lower the minimum applicable temperature.

What is the basic working principle of a car braking system?

Car braking system working principle: The automotive braking system is divided into two types, one is hydraulic braking, and the other is pneumatic braking. Hydraulic braking uses the master cylinder to transmit brake fluid as the medium through the brake lines to each brake slave cylinder. Pneumatic braking uses high-pressure gas as the braking medium, which is then delivered through pipelines to each brake slave cylinder. Although the working principles of these two braking methods are different, the braking effects they achieve are the same, both capable of applying braking force to the car. The braking system is a very important part of a car, enabling the vehicle to decelerate or stop according to the driver's commands during operation.

What is the difference between a one-way street and a straight lane?

The differences between a one-way street and a straight lane: 1. Different placement of signs: A one-way street is marked by a sign, usually at the entrance of the road, indicating the entire road; a straight lane is marked by road surface markings, usually at the exit of the road, indicating a single lane. 2. Different sign shapes: A one-way street has a square sign; a straight lane has a circular sign. 3. Different forms of signs: The one-way sign is usually located on the right side of the road, displayed on a vertical board; the straight sign is usually located on the ground. At intersections with lane dividers, the road in the forward direction is called a straight lane, and the lane marked with a straight arrow on the ground at a fork in the road is a straight lane.

Where to Stick the Small Round Mirror?

If the small round mirror is stuck on the left rearview mirror, it is usually installed in the lower left corner because the left rearview mirror is generally used for reversing or overtaking. In China, parking is mostly done on the right side, so the left rearview mirror is rarely used during parking. Therefore, the position of the small round mirror for reversing should minimize the blind spot of the rearview mirror while also allowing visibility of the rear wheel. If stuck on the right rearview mirror, the small round mirror for reversing is typically installed in the lower left or lower right corner of the right rearview mirror. The lower left corner position provides a wider field of view for the rearview mirror, which is useful for overtaking and lane changing, while the lower right corner position helps gauge the distance between the wheel and the roadside during parking. The small round mirror serves to expand the field of view, reduce blind spots, and allow visibility of the rear wheel position when reversing.

Is the Car Static Strap Useful?

Car static straps are useful. During autumn and winter, when the air humidity is relatively low, static electricity cannot be conducted and accumulates on the car body. Installing a static strap prevents this issue. Car static electricity is generated when the vehicle body rubs against dust in a dry environment. When people sit inside the car, their clothing inevitably rubs against the car's interior, producing static electricity. The use of more synthetic fiber materials in the car interior can further increase static electricity. A static strap is a device designed to eliminate static electricity from the vehicle, primarily aimed at conducting static electricity and effectively discharging it to the ground, avoiding the troubles caused by static electricity. Static electricity is not caused by a car's electrical leakage; it can be generated in various ways, such as from fiber materials inside the car or from friction between airborne dust and the car's metal surface during driving.

Is It Normal for an Audi to Shake When Cold?

Audi shaking when cold is normal, because the engine oil temperature is not high in a cold state, and it needs to wait until the car warms up and the temperature rises to reach the appropriate operating temperature. Audi is a luxury car brand under Audi AG, a subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group in Germany. The company headquarters is located in Ingolstadt, Germany, and has branches in many countries including China. Audi's car brands include: Audi A3, Audi A4L, Audi A6L New Energy, Audi A6L, and Audi Q3. Taking the Audi A3 as an example: The Audi A3 is a compact car with a length, width, and height of 4312mm, 1785mm, and 1426mm respectively, a wheelbase of 2629mm, and a body type of a 5-door, 5-seat hatchback.
