The start-stop switch of the Audi Q5 is located behind the gear lever, using a mechanical button. To turn it off, simply press the corresponding button. The automatic start-stop function needs to be manually turned off by the owner every time the car is started. If you want to permanently disable it, you can only do so by visiting an Audi 4S store for settings. The Audi Q5 is a dynamic and versatile SUV, equipped with Michelin Pilot Preceda PP2 high-performance sports tires as standard. In terms of body dimensions, the Audi Q5 measures 4629mm in length, 1898mm in width, and 1655mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2807mm.

Actually, I often use the start-stop function when driving my Q5, and the operation is super simple. It's enabled by default after ignition. When encountering a red light, just press the brake pedal firmly, and the engine automatically shuts off. Release the brake or turn the steering wheel, and it restarts immediately. If you want to turn it off, just press the circled A button near the gear lever, and a yellow light on the dashboard will indicate it's disabled. It's indeed effective for saving fuel, especially in city traffic, significantly reducing fuel consumption. However, the system may not work when running the AC at full blast in summer or during cold winter temperatures—this is a protective mechanism, so no need to worry about malfunctions. I've also found that turning off start-stop in heavy traffic makes for a smoother ride, avoiding frequent engine restarts and vibrations.

Don't overthink start-stop: Just drive off normally, the system stands ready without extra setup. At red lights, when you brake to a full stop, the tachometer drops to zero indicating engine shutdown; when the light turns green, slightly lift your foot or turn the steering wheel for instant motor response. Locate the start-stop button (with A symbol) near the gear lever - press it to disable for a single trip. Most practical is combining with drive modes: Eco mode triggers start-stop more aggressively, while Sport mode delays intervention. After cold winter starts, the system automatically deactivates for a few kilometers until coolant warms up, and also pauses when battery charge is low - these are protective measures, not malfunctions.

Three simple steps to start the stop-start system: After starting the engine, it's activated by default; come to a complete stop by pressing the brake; the car will shut off automatically. When you're ready to go, release the brake and the engine will restart immediately. I often use it in the city, especially during long red lights where the fuel savings are noticeable. If you temporarily don't need it (such as when reversing), just press the A button on the center console to turn it off, and it will automatically reactivate the next time you drive.
