How to Use the Sport Mode in Corolla?

The method to use the sport mode in Corolla is to simply press the button behind the gear lever. The functions of the sport mode include: 1. Maintaining sufficient torque for the vehicle to enhance power performance; 2. Stiffening the suspension, increasing support, improving throttle sensitivity, and increasing engine air intake; 3. High engine RPM also helps in clearing carbon deposits from the engine. Taking the 2021 Corolla as an example, it is a compact car with body dimensions of: length 4635mm, width 1780mm, height 1455mm, wheelbase 2700mm, fuel tank capacity 50l, and trunk capacity 470l.
The sport mode switch in the Corolla is usually located near the gear shift or on the steering wheel paddle, marked with an 'S' or 'SPORT' button. I've tried my friend's Corolla, and the most noticeable change after pressing it is that the throttle becomes extremely responsive—just a light tap and the revs shoot up. It's especially exhilarating for overtaking on highways, as the transmission actively downshifts to keep the revs above 3,000 RPM. However, this mode significantly increases fuel consumption; I've tested it and found it burns nearly 1 liter more fuel over the same distance. It's very practical on winding mountain roads, providing quick acceleration out of curves, but in city traffic jams, the car can feel a bit jerky, requiring careful throttle control. Switching back to normal mode feels like driving a completely different car, with much gentler acceleration.
