Generally, it defaults to starting in sport mode. You just need to shift the gear to S mode to use the paddle shifters. You need to set up the activation for D and S modes in the vehicle's computer. When in D mode, press and hold the '+' on the paddle shifter for 3 seconds to use the paddle shifters. To switch back from S mode to D mode, simply shift to D mode, but this will deactivate the paddle shifters. Switching from D mode to S mode in sport mode will not affect the paddle shifters. S mode will deactivate when switched back to D mode. To deactivate in D mode, press and hold the '+' on the paddle shifter for 3 seconds again. If unused for a long time, it will deactivate automatically.

When driving my Tiggo 8 Plus, I find the paddle shifters quite handy. As long as the car is started in D mode, you can use the paddles behind the steering wheel for manual shifting anytime. The left paddle is for downshifting—pressing it raises the RPM for quicker acceleration when overtaking. The right paddle is for upshifting, making the ride smoother and more fuel-efficient. The system is smart; if you don’t operate it for a few seconds, it automatically switches back to D mode, which is worry-free. I don’t use them much during daily commutes, but they’re useful for speeding on highways or controlling speed safely downhill. After getting used to them, I feel more in control without losing the convenience of automatic transmission—simple yet adding a bit of driving fun.

Why Does the Car Engine Light Flash?

Reasons for the car engine light flashing: 1. Excessive carbon deposits: Too much carbon buildup in the throttle or inside the engine. 2. Imbalanced air-fuel mixture: Malfunction of the oxygen sensor leading to an imbalanced air-fuel mixture. This phenomenon is common if the car is frequently driven at low speeds in urban areas. 3. Fuel injector leakage: Leakage in the fuel injector causes it to continue supplying fuel even after the throttle is released, resulting in an overly rich mixture at low speeds and unstable idle after releasing the throttle. In severe cases, the engine may stall directly. 4. Oxygen sensor poisoning: Using low-quality gasoline with excessive metal content can poison the oxygen sensor. The solution is to switch to a different gas station.
