How to use the P gear in an automatic transmission?

First, understand the working mode of the P gear. When in P gear, the transmission is locked. Press the brake pedal to stop the car. Shift the gear lever to N gear. Release the brake and engage the electronic parking brake. Turn off the engine, shift the gear lever to P gear, and the parking process is complete.
When I first started driving, I was also confused about the P gear. Later, a mechanic told me that this parking gear is the most precious. When parking, you must first firmly press the brake, wait for the car to come to a complete stop, then pull up the handbrake, and finally shift into P gear. This is especially important when parking on a slope; otherwise, the transmission gears can get jammed by the weight of the car, causing a loud clunk when shifting gears next time you start. Never shift into P gear at a traffic light—if you get rear-ended, the entire transmission could be ruined. Once, I forgot to pull the handbrake and shifted directly into P gear. When I started the car again, the gearshift lever felt like it was welded in place, and it cost me over 3,000 yuan to fix. If you can't get out of P gear when moving the car, first check the brake light switch—a faulty small part like this can also lock the gear.
