How to Use the Odyssey Cruise Control?
2 Answers
While driving, accelerate the vehicle to your desired cruising speed, then press the MAIN button on the multifunction steering wheel to activate the cruise control. Use the RES+ or SET- buttons to adjust the cruising speed, and finally set the cruise control duration. Precautions for using cruise control: 1. Cruise control does not include automatic braking functionality. Adaptive cruise control is more advanced and addresses this issue. 2. Pressing the brake pedal will deactivate cruise control. The set speed is retained and can be manually resumed. 3. In conditions such as heavy rain or winding mountain roads, be sure to turn off cruise control to avoid potential hazards. 4. When driving downhill, the vehicle may exceed the set speed. In such cases, use the brake pedal to control speed and prevent accidents due to loss of control.
I've driven the Odyssey several times, and its cruise control is quite convenient. Generally, on the highway, once the speed stabilizes above 40 km/h, press the cruise button on the left side of the steering wheel to activate the system. When the speed reaches your desired point, say 80 km/h, simply press the SET button to lock it in. After that, you don’t need to press the accelerator, giving your foot a rest—it’s very comfortable. Adjusting speed is easy: press the nearby RES+ or SET- to fine-tune, with each press increasing or decreasing by about 1 km/h. To cancel, lightly tap the brake or press the CANCEL button, and it will automatically disengage. I often use it for long trips, especially when the road is straight and traffic is light—it saves effort. But avoid using it on slippery roads or in heavy traffic, as it can be distracting and lead to accidents. Remember, when trying it for the first time, practice on a quiet stretch of road to get familiar before using it regularly.
