The usage method of the Golf Tiptronic transmission is: 1. Adjust the driving seat position; 2. The gear shift lever is located in the center of the cockpit; 3. The 'D' marking on the gear indicates automatic mode, while 'S' denotes manual mode position; 4. Pushing the lever to the upper right corner towards the '+' sign upshifts the transmission, while pushing it to the lower right corner towards the '-' sign downshifts; 5. Engage the electronic parking brake when parking; 6. The AUTOHOLD button controls the vehicle's auto-hold function. The Golf's body dimensions are: length 4296mm, width 1788mm, height 1471mm, with a wheelbase of 2636mm and a fuel tank capacity of 51 liters.
I used to drive a Golf with a Tiptronic transmission, and the D mode was my go-to for everything. In city traffic, I didn't have to worry about shifting at all. Switching to manual mode is super easy—just push the gear lever to the right from D mode, and it shifts into M mode. The dashboard will then display the current gear. When approaching a long uphill slope, I manually downshift to a lower gear, and the higher RPMs give me plenty of power for climbing. For overtaking, a quick pull back on the gear lever downshifts instantly, and the transmission responds as swiftly as a sports car. I especially appreciate the car's protection logic—even if I forget to upshift in manual mode, it will automatically upshift when the RPM hits the redline to protect the engine. When I first got the car, I was worried about not being used to it, but in reality, the shifts are much smoother than I imagined, with no jerking at all.
