How to Use the Gear Positions in the 10th Generation Accord?

To start the engine, the gear shift lever should be in the P or N position. The P position is the parking gear. The R position is the reverse gear. The N position is the neutral gear as commonly referred to. The D position is the drive gear for forward movement. The L position stands for the low-speed gear.
When I first started driving the 10th-generation Accord, I knew nothing about it. The gear usage is actually quite intuitive. After getting in the car, sit firmly, press the brake to start the car, and make sure it's in the P (Park) position—this prevents the car from moving. If you need to reverse, hold the shift button and move to R (Reverse), then slowly release the brake to start backing up. For forward movement, shift to D (Drive), and the car will automatically change gears based on speed, which is ideal for daily driving. I rarely use N (Neutral), usually only briefly switching to it at red lights or in traffic jams to save fuel. There's an S (Sport) mode next to the gearshift—press it to activate, making the throttle response more sensitive, which is great for climbing hills or overtaking. However, beginners should avoid overusing it, as it can make the car unstable. Always remember to return to P (Park) when stopping to lock the car and prevent it from rolling. Regularly check if the gear shifts smoothly to avoid potential malfunctions, and maintain the transmission periodically for safe and worry-free driving.
