How to Use the Focus Wipers?

Push the entire wiper control lever down one notch for a single wipe. Push up one notch for intermittent wiping mode; push up two notches for low-speed wiping mode; push up three notches for high-speed wiping mode. Pull back one notch for front wiper washer; push forward one notch for rear wiper washer.
Last time my friend asked me how to use the Focus wipers, I shared my habits. The wiper stalk is conveniently located below the steering wheel on the right. Pulling it toward yourself activates the washer fluid and a few wipes to clean off dust and bug stains. Pushing the stalk downward sets slow wiper speed for light rain; pushing it further gives fast speed for heavy rain. Some Focus models even let you adjust the wipe interval with a small rotary knob on the side of the stalk. Before driving in rain, I always test the wipers to avoid poor visibility when starting off. In winter, spray lukewarm water first if the windshield is icy – never force the blades to prevent rubber damage. I recommend replacing wiper blades every six months – cheap ones from supermarkets work fine. When they streak or get noisy, I replace them immediately. In heavy rain with poor visibility, slow down and turn on hazard lights. Parking with a cover helps prevent wiper deterioration.
I've been driving for over a decade, and the Focus' wipers are simple and reliable to use. The control stalk is conveniently located on the right side of the steering wheel - just grip it as usual. A gentle push downward activates intermittent wiping, while pushing it all the way down switches to high-speed wiping for heavy rain. Pulling the stalk inward sprays washer fluid for instant windshield cleaning. During light rain, I lower the frequency to avoid excessive wiping. Wiper blades wear out quickly, so I check them every six months and replace if cracked. Safety comes first in rainy conditions - when visibility gets too poor in heavy downpours, don't risk it; just pull over. Always test your wipers before driving to ensure they're functioning properly. Use the washer function when the windshield is dirty for better results. Remember never to operate wipers on a dry windshield to avoid scratches or annoying noises. In foggy weather, combine wiper operation with defroster airflow for crystal-clear visibility. Routine maintenance includes wiper cleaning and electrical line inspections to prevent leakage.
