How to Use the Differential Lock on a Truck?
1 Answers
The usage method of the differential lock is as follows: 1. Differential Lock Engagement: The inter-axle and inter-wheel differentials of the drive axle are controlled by the differential lock switch on the dashboard in the cab. When the vehicle is stuck on muddy or slippery roads, press the differential lock switch at low speed or when stationary, release the accelerator pedal, and steer appropriately. The indicator light will illuminate, indicating the differential is properly engaged. 2. Differential Lock Disengagement: When road conditions improve (the road becomes better), press the differential lock switch while driving at low or constant speed, release the accelerator pedal, and steer appropriately. The indicator light will turn off, indicating the differential has disengaged. The differential locks should be used in the following sequence: 1. First, engage the inter-wheel differential lock. 2. If the inter-wheel differential lock is ineffective, then engage the inter-axle differential lock. 3. When the vehicle is heavily loaded and climbing a steep slope (≥20%), engage only the inter-axle differential lock, as the inter-wheel differential lock is not needed in this scenario.
