The method for using the cruise control on a Jeep Compass is as follows: 1. To activate the cruise control system, first pull the lever inward to turn on the system. 2. To store the current speed, press the set button. 3. Move the lever upward to increase the speed. Move it downward to decrease the speed. Holding it in position will rapidly increase or decrease the speed. 4. Pressing the accelerator or pushing the lever downward will temporarily cancel the function. Releasing the accelerator or pulling the lever inward will automatically restore the function. 5. Pushing the lever all the way down or applying the brakes will cancel the function, and the indicator light will turn off.

I remember the first time I used the cruise control on my Jeep Compass was on the highway, and it was quite a scramble. First, locate the cruise control button on the left side of the steering wheel, press the arrow-marked key to activate the system, and the icon will light up. When the speed reaches your desired level, say 80 km/h, press the SET/- key to lock it in. At this point, your right foot can take a break! To adjust the speed, use the RES/+ and SET/- keys for fine-tuning—each press changes the speed by about 2 km/h. If the car ahead gets too close or you need to overtake, lightly tap the brake to deactivate the cruise control. When the road is clear again, press RES to return to the previous speed. To turn it off completely, hold down the switch. Remember not to rely on cruise control downhill, as the speed might exceed the limit, and avoid using it in rainy conditions to prevent tire slippage.

Last month, I tested the cruise control function of the Compass on a long-distance trip, and the operation was actually simpler than expected. The activation button is located in the functional area on the left side of the steering wheel, resembling a speedometer icon. After accelerating the car to the desired speed, press the SET button to lock the speed. At this point, a green cruise indicator will appear on the dashboard, and you no longer need to press the accelerator pedal. To adjust the speed, the RES button increases speed while the SET button decreases it, with noticeable changes per press. The most practical feature is the temporary cancellation function: lightly pressing the brake or hitting the CANCEL button exits cruise control, which is especially convenient at toll booths or in traffic jams. To resume, pressing RES immediately returns to the set speed. However, it's important to note that the system does not automatically brake, so maintaining a safe following distance is up to the driver.

Using cruise control in the Compass is quite convenient. There's a set of control buttons on the left side of the steering wheel—first press the top button to activate the system. Once the speed stabilizes, hold the SET button for three seconds to set the current speed. For minor adjustments, tap the RES or SET button, and the dashboard will display real-time changes. To overtake, just press the accelerator—releasing it will automatically return to the cruise speed. There are two ways to cancel: lightly tap the brake or press the middle button with an "X" symbol. When using this feature at night, I increase the steering wheel brightness to avoid pressing the wrong buttons. Additionally, checking tire pressure is crucial, as unstable pressure can affect cruise control accuracy.
