Golf's cruise control is operated via buttons on the left side of the steering wheel. Details are as follows: 1. Activate CCS: Move the switch on the turn signal lever to the ON position, or press the cruise control activation button on the multifunction steering wheel. 2. Enable CCS control function: Press the SET/- button at the lower end of the turn signal lever, or press the SET button on the multifunction steering wheel. 3. Temporarily deactivate CCS control function: Move the switch on the turn signal lever to the CANCEL position, or press the CNL button on the multifunction steering wheel. 4. Resume CCS speed control function: Press the RES/+ button at the upper end of the turn signal lever, or press the RES button on the multifunction steering wheel.
I usually rely heavily on the cruise control when driving my Golf on the highway—it saves both fuel and effort. The operation is actually quite simple: first, locate the main cruise control switch with the speedometer icon on the left side of the steering wheel and press it to activate the system. A white cruise icon will appear on the dashboard. Accelerate to your desired speed, say 80 km/h, then press the SET button to lock in that speed—the icon will turn green, and you can release the throttle. To increase speed, tap the RES/+ button, and to decrease, tap the SET/- button, with each press adjusting by 1 km/h. In case of any situation, pressing the brake or the CANCEL button will pause the cruise control. To resume the set speed, simply press RES. It's recommended for use on highways and expressways; during rainy weather or on winding roads, manual control is safer. Remember to keep your foot near the brake after setting the speed, just in case.
