First, you need to depress the brake pedal and start the engine. Then turn the key to the ST position to start the engine until the idle speed stabilizes. Turn the fan speed knob to the far right for maximum airflow. Rotate the temperature mode knob to the left to activate the cooling mode. Press the A/C switch to turn on the compressor. Press the recirculation button to activate the interior air recirculation mode.

After driving for over ten years, I've found that manual air conditioning is actually easier to use. The Baojun 310's AC has just three knobs! The left knob adjusts the temperature—blue for cold and red for warm—I usually set it slightly towards the cold side. The middle knob controls the fan speed with four adjustable levels. The right knob manages the vent mode; for direct airflow, just turn it to the first icon. In summer, remember to press the small snowflake button for AC, while in winter, simply turn to the red zone without touching AC. If the windshield fogs up, switch to the defrost mode and max out the fan speed for instant results. On highways, use external circulation for better airflow; in city traffic, switch to internal circulation for fresher air. Lastly, a tip: before turning off the AC in winter, shut off the AC first and let natural air blow for five minutes to prevent mold in the pipes.

When I first got my Baojun 310, figuring out the AC system was quite fun. Look at the row of buttons on the dashboard: the largest knob on the left controls temperature—turn it to the blue line for cold air in summer, and straight to the red zone for warmth in winter. The middle knob adjusts fan speed—I recommend not always cranking it to max. The right knob changes airflow direction; the far-right icon works best for defrosting the windshield. To cool, first press the 'AC' button in the top-left corner, and avoid the natural air button. My habit is to open windows briefly after starting the car, then close them and turn on AC—cooling becomes twice as fast. Using air recirculation saves fuel, but remember to switch to fresh air mode periodically. For defogging, select defrost mode with warm air—it’s much more comfortable than using cold air.

As a female owner of the Baojun 310, using the air conditioning requires balancing comfort and convenience. The temperature adjustment knob is on the left, producing a clear clicking sound when rotated. The fan speed knob is centrally located, and noise is minimal when set to the second level. My favorite is the front footwell heating mode—within half an hour in winter, the cabin becomes comfortably warm. When using the cooling function, be sure to activate the small blue light next to the AC button; otherwise, it’s just natural air. On rainy days when fogging occurs, I switch to the front defrost mode + external circulation, which is much safer than wiping with a towel. I clean the air conditioning filter every month, and during maintenance, I remind the technician to check the refrigerant pressure. A tip: turn off the AC five minutes before shutting down the engine but keep the fan running to dry the ducts, preventing odors.
