How to Use S Gear?

S gear is the sports mode of the car. In S gear sports mode, the transmission can shift freely, and the shifting timing is delayed, allowing the engine to maintain high RPM for a longer time. The car will move at a lower gear with higher RPM for an extended period, thereby achieving greater torque output and acceleration. The method to use S gear in an automatic transmission car is as follows: Entering Sports Mode: Shift the gear to D gear, then push the gear lever to the right, and the transmission will enter sports mode. Shifting Method: Use the forward and backward push of the gear lever to shift gears. Pushing forward is for upshifting, and pushing backward is for downshifting. Switching Gears: Push the gear lever to the left to the D gear position to complete the switch between S gear and D gear.
When using the S mode, I first look for the right moment while driving. For example, when overtaking on the highway or climbing a steep slope, I gently push the gear lever from D to S position. At this point, the engine speed increases, gear shifting is delayed, and the power becomes more abundant, making the car feel like it's been given a boost, making overtaking effortless. However, don't keep it on all the time, otherwise, fuel consumption will rise sharply, and the engine noise will become annoyingly loud. Especially in city traffic jams, switching back to D mode is smoother and more fuel-efficient. From my experience, extra caution is needed in winter when roads are slippery with snow, as the S mode's high torque can easily cause skidding. When using it, don't press the pedal too hard to avoid sudden acceleration and potential accidents. Regularly check the car's condition to ensure the transmission is healthy, so you can safely enjoy the driving pleasure brought by the S mode.
