How to Use Reference Points for Head-First Parking?
1 Answers
When parking head-first into a space, if there are no vehicles on either side, you can use the parking space lines as reference points. If parked vehicles on both sides obstruct your view, observe the four corners of your car during the maneuver, being careful not to hit any obstacles. Of course, the most crucial factor is controlling your speed. Moving slowly gives you more reaction time and room for correction. If you can't park perfectly in one attempt, try a few more times. Steps for head-first parking: Drive as close as possible to the right side of the roadway, which helps in making a wide turn into the parking space. Turn the steering wheel fully to the left, then check if the right front of your car maintains a safe distance. If too close, straighten the wheels, reverse slightly, shift back to drive, and turn fully left again. Ensure your car's front right won't scrape other vehicles, then check the left rearview mirror to confirm the rear maintains safe clearance. Monitor both side mirrors until your car aligns parallel with the parking lines, then straighten the wheels and proceed forward. When your car's front aligns with adjacent vehicles' rears, brake and clutch to stop. Note: Head-first parking isn't recommended because when reversing out, drivers can't see approaching vehicles from either side of the parking space exit. Reversing without confirming safety not only disrupts traffic flow but may cause accidents.
