How to Use Hydraulic Retarder Braking?
1 Answers
Hydraulic retarder converts the kinetic energy of the entire vehicle into heat energy, which is then dissipated through the engine's cooling system via circulating coolant. Therefore, installing a hydraulic retarder imposes strict requirements on the heat dissipation capacity of the vehicle's engine. Special attention should be paid to the following points when using a hydraulic retarder: 1. The hydraulic retarder serves as an auxiliary braking device and cannot replace service brakes or parking brakes! In case of emergency braking situations, decisively use the main service brake. 2. Exercise caution when using hydraulic retarders on sharp bends or continuous winding roads! Extra caution is required especially when carrying heavy loads or with long trailers. 3. Use hydraulic retarders prudently during rainy/snowy weather, on slippery road surfaces, or when the vehicle's ABS system malfunctions! (Prohibited from using high gear positions of retarder braking).
