How to Use ETC for the First Time?
2 Answers
Newly installed ETC cannot be used immediately; the ETC device must be successfully activated before normal use. ETC Activation Method: Insert and remove the ETC card twice consecutively until the electronic tag screen displays "Bluetooth On." If inserting and removing twice without the electronic tag attached shows "Tag Invalid," this is normal and does not affect activation. Alternatively, you can press the button on the top of the electronic tag to enable Bluetooth. Turn on your phone's Bluetooth, open the corresponding mobile app (usually a download QR code is provided on the electronic tag), and enter the device activation interface. Click "Device Connection" and wait patiently for the "Connection Successful" prompt. After successful connection, upload a photo of the vehicle's front to complete activation.
The first time using ETC, I remember feeling a bit confused, but it turned out to be super simple in practice. I went to an ETC service point to get a card, and they stuck a small device on the windshield near the rearview mirror. When driving on the highway, just enter the dedicated ETC lane, keep the speed below 20 km/h, and the system will automatically recognize and deduct the fee. The most important thing is to ensure the device is firmly attached and avoid areas with film to prevent signal failure. You can top up using a mobile app or service outlets. Since I often drive long distances, I topped up 500 yuan, which saves the hassle of carrying cash. After using it for half a year now, no more queuing at highway tolls—it’s awesome! Remember to check your account balance regularly to avoid unexpected fees disrupting your trip.
