Connecting your phone is very convenient. Simply install the CarLife App on your phone to quickly establish a connection. The first step is to locate the settings in the car's system menu, enter the connection settings, select CarLife, and then check the box to enable CarLife. The second step is to enable "USB Debugging" in the settings options of your Android phone. The third step is to connect your phone to the car's system using a USB cable. At this point, the connection should be successful. If it hasn't connected yet, simply restart your phone and try connecting again.

I remember spending quite some time setting up Carlife when I first got my 2021 Corolla. The first step is actually to connect your phone to the car's USB port using the original data cable, which is usually located inside the center console. Make sure to install the Baidu Carlife app on your phone beforehand and remember to enable USB debugging mode in the developer options. On the car's infotainment system, tap on the app with the Baidu icon and grant the necessary permissions as prompted. Once connected, the screen will be divided into three sections: navigation on the left, music player in the middle, and phone functions on the right. A special reminder: use a high-quality data cable. My colleague couldn't get it to work with a generic cable, but it connected instantly with the original one. While driving, you can activate navigation directly using the voice button on the steering wheel, which is much safer than looking down to tap the screen.

Using Carlife mainly depends on the data cable and phone settings. Plug the original Type-C cable into the car's USB port—avoid using cigarette lighter adapters. For Android phones, enable USB debugging in the Developer Options within the settings; iPhones don't require this but need iOS 13 or later. Once connected, the car's interface allows direct control of phone navigation, music, and voice assistants. In tests, navigation latency is lower than with Bluetooth. Note: Ensure all pop-up permissions are allowed on the phone—once, forgetting to grant microphone access caused voice control to fail. It's especially useful for long trips: just keep the phone in your pocket, view navigation clearer on the car's larger screen, and sync saved locations from the phone.

I use the Carlife feature in my 2021 Corolla every day. Just three simple steps: plug in the cable after getting in the car, open the mobile app, and tap the car display icon. The key point is connection stability - always keep the car system version up to date. After one OTA update, I noticed significantly fewer disconnections. During navigation, it automatically splits the screen to show both the route and speed cameras, which is more convenient than a phone mount. For music, it syncs with NetEase Cloud playlist, and the steering wheel buttons directly control track switching. If it freezes, try reconnecting the USB cable first - this solves 90% of issues. Final friendly reminder: don't operate the touchscreen while driving, using voice control is safest.
