BMW 5 Series cruise control button operation method: 1. The CNCL button is the cancel cruise control button. Press the RES button to resume cruise control when needed. 2. Before activating cruise control, you should first set the cruising speed. (Note: The cruise control function can only be used above 30km/h) 3. The wheel marked with plus and minus symbols is used to control the cruise control speed—up to increase, down to decrease. 4. The "LIM" button can limit the vehicle's maximum speed, thus helping to avoid speeding on highways. 5. (For some models) The autonomous driving system mainly includes the lane-keeping system and adaptive cruise control. With the support of the lane-keeping system, cruise control becomes more reliable. If there is a risk of crossing the lane while driving, the steering wheel will vibrate or emit a sound to alert the driver. Adaptive cruise control uses radar monitoring to identify the driving conditions of the vehicle ahead and automatically decelerates or accelerates accordingly.

I just got back from a long-distance drive, and the cruise control on my BMW 5 Series was a lifesaver. It's quite simple to operate: after starting the car and reaching a speed above 30 km/h, press the CRUISE button on the left stalk of the steering wheel to activate the system. Then, press the SET button to lock the current speed. To accelerate or decelerate, gently push the + or - buttons on the stalk—each push adjusts the speed by about 2 km/h. If you need to temporarily exit the cruise control, such as when there's a car ahead, lightly tap the brake or press the CANCEL button on the stalk. When the road is clear again, press RES to instantly resume the set speed. It's best to use this feature on highways or roads with light traffic; avoid trying it in urban areas with many curves where reaction time might be insufficient. Always keep your right hand on the steering wheel to maintain control of the vehicle and your foot near the brake, ready to act. Finally, to completely deactivate the cruise control, press the CRUISE button once more.

Before using cruise control, make sure the car is in D gear and the speed isn't too low, otherwise it won't activate. Locate the CRUISE button on the silver lever on the left side of the steering wheel and press it to illuminate the indicator light. Drive the car to your desired speed, for example, 80 km/h, then press the SET button to lock it in. To accelerate, simply push the upward arrow on the lever; to decelerate, push the downward arrow—it's as intuitive as using a game controller. On highways, if you want to take manual control, just press the accelerator to overtake, and the cruise control will automatically pause; releasing the accelerator will return the car to the cruising speed. In emergencies, pressing the brake will deactivate cruise control, and pressing RES will resume it. I've found it's best not to use it in rainy weather or on mountain roads, as slippery surfaces can lead to loss of control. Also, remember to check the green cruise icon on the dashboard to confirm whether the system is active.

The BMW 5 Series has a very thoughtful feature design with all operations on the left steering column stalk. First press the large button to activate the cruise system, drive to the target speed like 100 km/h, then press SET to lock it. Use the stalk to fine-tune speed - push forward to increase by 3 km/h or backward to decrease by 3 km/h, with extremely precise response. The cruise automatically disengages when stopping at red lights, and resumes the preset speed after moving again without needing readjustment. The system also actively brakes when vehicles cut in suddenly. However, being an assistance system, I mostly avoid using it in urban traffic, construction zones, or bad weather, reserving it only for clear highway conditions. Always keeping feet ready on brake and accelerator ensures maximum safety.

After starting the car, the cruise control activates when the speed exceeds 30 km/h. Press the CRUISE button with the speedometer icon on the left stalk to turn it on, then drive to the desired speed and press SET to confirm. The car will then maintain the speed without needing to press the accelerator. To increase speed, push the stalk upward three times to raise it by 10 km/h; to decrease speed, push it downward in the same way. Note that if you brake, the system will temporarily deactivate—press the RES button to immediately resume the last set speed. The BMW 5 Series' adaptive cruise control can also automatically adjust speed based on the distance to the vehicle ahead. A useful tip is to remember to turn on the headlights at night to avoid system response delays. Over time, you may notice that changing tires can affect the system's accuracy, so during maintenance, check the radar sensor positioning and calibration.

What Causes a Gasoline Car to Emit Black Smoke?

When a car emits black smoke, it is often due to uneven or excessive fuel supply from the high-pressure fuel pump across the cylinders. This can cause unstable engine speed and intermittent black smoke emissions. The issue should be addressed by adjusting the fuel supply to achieve balance or keep it within the specified range. Additionally, malfunctioning or damaged fuel injectors can lead to insufficient fuel atomization, resulting in black smoke. In such cases, the injectors need to be inspected and replaced. Below are the reasons and solutions for a car emitting black smoke: 1. Check if the air filter is clogged, if there is any leakage in the intake pipe (which may cause the engine to produce a sharp whistling sound under increased load), or if the turbocharger is damaged. 2. The solution involves inspecting whether the turbine wheel and compressor wheel blades are damaged and ensuring they rotate smoothly and flexibly.

Why Does the Car Clutch Become Lower?

Reasons why a car clutch becomes lower: 1. There is air inside the clutch system, or leakage in the clutch master or slave cylinder; 2. The clutch cable is low, and there is an adjusting screw at the front end of the clutch cable—sometimes if it loosens, the clutch becomes lower; 3. The impact of a low car clutch: if adjusted too low, it can affect the separation gap, causing the car to start in a semi-clutch state, leading to clutch wear, and making gear shifting difficult. The clutch functions like a switch, engaging or disengaging power transmission. The clutch mechanism allows the driving and driven parts to temporarily separate and gradually engage, with the possibility of relative rotation during transmission. A rigid connection cannot be used between the driving and driven parts of the clutch.

Reasons for Detected Misfire in Cylinder 4 (P0304)

p0304 detected misfire in cylinder 4 can be caused by the following reasons: 1. Spark Plug: Poor spark plug firing. 2. Piston Ring: Damaged piston rings leading to low cylinder pressure. 3. Ignition Coil: Internal damage to the ignition coil. 4. Timing Mechanism: Incorrect timing or skipped teeth in the timing mechanism. 5. Engine: Engine computer damage or fault code issues. The troubleshooting methods are: Check the cylinder pressure of each cylinder to ensure it is normal; most vehicles have a cylinder pressure of around 1300 kPa. Address any cylinders with abnormal pressure. Inspect the spark plug firing condition, the size of the free gap, whether the ceramic area has cracks, and if it has been punctured. Replace any damaged spark plugs. Check if the timing marks on the timing belt or timing chain align correctly. If misaligned, disassemble the timing mechanism and realign the timing marks. Try replacing the ignition coil to see if the issue is resolved.

What to Do When the Braking System Malfunctions?

Solutions for braking system malfunctions: 1. If you notice that the brake pedal does not rise when pressed and there is no resistance, check if the brake fluid is low and top it up promptly. It could also be due to a malfunction in the brake wheel cylinder, pipelines, or connectors, which requires repair. 2. If the braking effect is poor when the brake pedal is pressed all the way down or during continuous braking, it indicates the presence of air in the braking system, necessitating bleeding. 3. If the pedal position is very low and does not rise after being pressed, and it feels stiff, this is caused by a blockage in the master cylinder, which needs to be cleared.
