How to Use Audi Mechanical Key?

Insert the mechanical key directly into the door keyhole. There is a hidden keyhole in the center console or under the cup holder. Insert the remote key into it. Turn the door lock cylinder clockwise a small half-turn to smoothly open the door. Conversely, turn it counterclockwise a small half-turn to lock the door. Locate the keyhole near the steering wheel, insert the mechanical key, and depress the brake pedal. The steering wheel lock will then release, and the main brake will automatically disengage. When the remote key battery is dead, place the remote key against the start button to use the one-touch start function.
Last time my Audi's remote key fob battery died, I had to rely on the mechanical backup key. It's hidden inside the remote casing - just press the side button gently to pull it out. There's a small keyhole on the door, sometimes inconspicuously located. I used a flashlight to find it, inserted the key and turned it left or right to unlock the door. After entering the vehicle, starting the engine requires some technique: either hold the key near the start button or insert it into the card slot below the steering wheel. Some models require direct contact with a designated area, like near the cigarette lighter on the center console. Always operate gently without forceful twisting to avoid damaging the lock cylinder. I recommend keeping a spare battery in the car for emergencies. Also, Audi's mechanical key design is quite practical - keeping a backup on your keyring serves as emergency access if the remote is lost. However, modern models increasingly rely on wireless functions, so regular battery checks can prevent many hassles.
