How to Use a Vehicle Power Take-Off (PTO)?
1 Answers
Vehicle power take-off (PTO) usage methods are: 1. Turn off the PTO when the vehicle is not in operation; 2. Strictly prohibit engaging reverse gear when the PTO is activated; 3. For pneumatic switches, never engage the PTO with insufficient air pressure (6 to 8 bar required); 4. For mechanical PTO switches, fully depress the clutch before engaging, then gradually release it. The PTO functions as a transmission gear set—either single or multiple gear assemblies—also known as a power output unit. Typically composed of a gearbox, clutch, and controller, PTOs are primarily used in dump trucks, resulting in relatively standardized domestic demand for these components.
