How to use a newly installed ETC?

Newly installed ETC cannot be used immediately; it needs to be successfully activated before normal use. ETC activation method: Insert and remove the ETC card twice in succession until the electronic tag screen displays "Bluetooth is on." If inserting and removing twice without attaching the electronic tag shows "Tag invalid," it is a normal phenomenon and does not affect activation. Alternatively, you can directly press the button on the top of the electronic tag to enable Bluetooth. Turn on your phone's Bluetooth, open the corresponding mobile APP (usually there is a download QR code on the electronic tag), and enter the device activation interface. Click on device connection and patiently wait for the "Connection successful" prompt. After successful connection, upload a photo of the vehicle's front to complete activation.
After setting up my ETC, the first thing I did was install the device. Following the manual, I stuck it on the upper right corner of the windshield, making sure it wasn’t blocked by sunshade film or metal decorations, as that could weaken signal reception and affect performance. Next, I linked my bank card via the mobile app and topped up at least a few hundred yuan to avoid payment delays due to insufficient balance. When driving on the highway, I slow down to around 20 km/h and smoothly enter the ETC-only lane—automatic recognition and fee deduction make it super convenient, no need to worry about toll attendants waving. After the first use, I check the app to confirm the fee was deducted correctly. If the device light doesn’t turn on or flashes abnormally, it might be mispositioned or the card is loose—this is the best time to test it on short urban highway trips to prevent malfunctions. Overall, ETC saves time and effort, with minimal daily maintenance—just ensure it’s firmly attached and the balance is sufficient for a hassle-free experience.
