Method for using a multimeter to check car battery drain: 1. Open the hood, secure the hood latch, close all doors, and prepare a digital multimeter; 2. Set the multimeter to the DC ampere 20A range; 3. Remove the red probe from the multimeter and insert it into the 20A jack; 4. Disconnect the negative battery terminal, connect the red probe to the negative battery cable, and the black probe to the negative battery post; 5. Press the lock button on the remote to lock the vehicle, observe the current displayed on the multimeter. The current will be very high when locking, but after a few minutes, it should drop to within 0.05A, which is the normal range. If it exceeds this range, it indicates abnormal battery drain.
