How to Unlock a Locked Steering Wheel?
1 Answers
To unlock a locked steering wheel, turn the steering wheel with your left hand while turning the key with your right hand. After turning off the engine and removing the key, the steering wheel lock mechanism will engage. To start the car, insert the key and simultaneously turn the steering wheel back and forth while turning the key to unlock it. The steering wheel lock operates similarly to a door lock. Frequent back-and-forth turning of the steering wheel to unlock it can lead to excessive wear or even malfunction, ultimately affecting driving safety. In vehicles with an engine immobilizer, the steering wheel lock is electronically controlled. Frequent use of the electronic lock can make it more prone to damage. If the battery is low on power, the electronic lock may not open even with a chipped key inserted. In such cases, avoid forcing it; instead, use a jumper battery to supply power and unlock the steering wheel.
