How to Unclog the Sunroof Drain Pipe of a Classic Focus?

In this situation, you need to determine whether the front drain pipe or the rear one is clogged. If the front drain pipe is clogged, open the sunroof and use high-pressure air to blow at the two front corners of the sunroof. This will clear the sunroof drain pipe. If the rear drain pipes are clogged, you will need to remove the interior headliner before you can use high-pressure air to blow them clear.
When I owned a classic Ford Focus, I encountered the issue of a clogged sunroof drain tube, which led to rainwater leaking into the cabin. Fixing it myself was quite straightforward: First, locate the drain holes at the front of the vehicle, usually found in the corners beneath the windshield. Carefully remove the plastic cover with a screwdriver to expose the tube opening. Then, use a can of compressed air to blow into the opening. If you don’t have compressed air, you can connect a flexible hose from under the sink to a faucet and flush it out, or gently poke a thin wire like a bicycle brake cable into the tube to dislodge debris. After blowing or flushing, pour some water to test if the drain is clear—if the water flows smoothly, you’re done. Remember to wear gloves to avoid dust. It’s not difficult, but take care not to damage the tube in haste. Back then, it took me just over 20 minutes to solve the problem and stop the sunroof from leaking, saving me a repair bill.
