How to Turn on the Highlander Daytime Running Lights?
2 Answers
The Highlander is equipped with LED daytime running lights located at the bottom of the bumper on both sides. These lights will only turn on during the day when there is sufficient brightness and cannot be activated at night. Check if the display shows "Off." Press the OK button on the right side of the steering wheel to switch it to "On," then restart the vehicle.
My Highlander has been running for over five years, and the daytime running lights (DRLs) are set to turn on automatically by default—they light up as soon as you start the engine, which is super convenient. If they don’t come on, the setting might have been turned off. Just go to the 'Vehicle Settings' menu on the center display, look for the lighting options, and check if there’s a 'DRL Enable' switch—turn it on. Some older models might require accessing the settings through the steering wheel buttons to adjust the dashboard menu. Don’t worry, it’s not too complicated; most of the time, they work automatically. The key point is improving driving safety, as visibility during the day is much better. I still remember one rainy day when the DRLs helped me avoid a minor accident—they really work. If they still don’t light up after checking, I’d recommend visiting a professional shop as soon as possible to inspect the bulbs or fuse issues.
